Kenny Cowan

Newry Olympic Hockey Club was deeply saddened by the sudden passing of long-serving member, Kenny Cowan on Sunday 7th September 2025.

Kenny was a past Chairman of the club and gave so much of his time and energy to all aspects of Newry Olympic, both on and off the pitch. He enjoyed a long playing career and proudly captained the 3rd XI during the 2001/02 season. Away from hockey, Kenny valued the camaraderie of club life, taking part in the pool and darts teams and always enjoying the craic and the social side of the club.

A keen golfer, Kenny was also instrumental in establishing the NOHC Golf Society, later serving as its Captain. His contribution, friendship, and presence will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

As a club, our thoughts and prayers are with Kenny’s wife Sharon, his sons Jonny and Kris, and the wider family circle at this very difficult time.

Kenny will be greatly missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace.
