Belfast Harlequins 5-1 Newry Olympic

Premier League

Newry travelled to Belfast Harlequins on Saturday for their second league match of the season, hoping to get back on track with a win. However, with Quins recruiting well over the summer Newry knew this was going to be tough game.

Quins came out of the blocks quickly, but were unable to break Newry down. Both teams cancelled each other out until the second quarter when Quins scored with their first short corner. It was two from another short corner only a few minutes later.

Newry came out very strong in the second half and started to have some success going forward. However it was the home side who broke away on the counter attack and got their third. Newry did pull one back with Andrew Shekleton deflecting in at the back post, but as Newry pushed forward to get back into the game, Quins hit back twice more on the counter to make it 5-1.
