Young Hockey Leaders success

Ulster Hockey run their first Young Hockey Leaders course of the Summer in Newry

The club was pleased to welcome Ulster Hockey to Newry Olympic on Monday 5th August 2024 for their first Young Hockey Leaders course of the Summer.

The course had a full programme from 10am to 3pm and gave participants an introduction to coaching and umpiring with both interactive classroom exercises in the clubhouse and practical elements out on the pitch.

Everyone had great fun throughout the day and even had an opportunity to watch some of the hockey from the Olympics live on the big screen in the clubhouse.

The unanimous feedback from the participants was that they really enjoyed the course and were already looking forward to other events in the future! Everyone is also keen to develop their skills by helping out at junior hockey coaching and umpiring at mini hockey blitzes! A really worthwhile course in every way!!

Thanks also go to the club's Under 11 and Under 13 members who braved the rain in the afternoon to take part in matches which allowed those on the course to practice their new found skills.
