New season gets underway for the Golf Society
On Sunday the 13th of April 2025 the golf society made its first outing of the season to Corballis Links Golf Club in Donabate Co Dublin.
Twenty-six eager golfers joined the new Society Captain Peter Graham on the first trip of 2025.
Crossing the border to Corballis Links Golf Club on the coast north of Dublin, everyone was looking forward to another great outing. The unpredictable weather also held up to give everyone a fantastic day on what was a tricky course.
With a lot to play for in the first scoring round of the 2025 'Golfer of the Year' competition, Arron Appleton set the pace with a superb 44 points. After a great front nine resulting in 22 points, Arron held on for a consistent round with another impressive 22 points on the back nine to claim the 1st spot with an overall 44 points.
In 2nd place with a creditable 40 points was Willie Nummy
In 3rd place with a steady 37 points was Kenny Cowan
The Longest Drive was claimed by Jordan McKensie with a huge drive on the 470 yard 12th Hole.
Jordan
also won the
Nearest to the Pin on the 17th Hole for a really good day at the office!
The Golf Society Committee would like to thank Corballis Links Golf Club for the use of their course which proved to be a different challenge but was really enjoyable.
This was another super outing with everyone having a great day, many thanks to all for a big turnout.
The committee also wish Peter Graham the absolute best for the season as the new Society Captain.
Reminder to everyone to pay their £10 hockey club associate membership for the year if not already done so.

We're really looking forward to visiting these venues in the season. The society has continued to go from strength to strength over the last number of years, with great support from all the members on all the outings.
Remember the Golfer of the Year is based on your best two scores out of the first three outings in Stableford, so the competition is still wide open. The last outing in Portstewart will determine the winner, we will run it in order of leaders going out last.
We hope everyone can attend and any new members looking to join, please feel free to contact any of the committee members or just email us using
