Lisnagarvey 11-0 Newry Olympic (Kirk Cup)

Newry Olympic 1s travelled to Lisnagarvey for their final Kirk Cup group match.

Playing against the current Irish Senior Cup holders and Irish Hockey EY League champions, the Newry side were not expecting much from this game and were content to try out a new defensive formation. The score line may suggest it was not that successful!

Garvey as expected, dominated all stats and Richard McGivern in the Olympic goal was getting plenty of practice. He played out of his skin, but was unable to keep everything out. At half time the score was a creditable 4-0.

Newry continued to battle, but the superior fitness and ability of the home side started to tell more as the match wore on. A further seven goals came in the second half as Garvey ran rampant.

Newry next face Kilkeel in the league on Saturday.
