Laverne stars in International Hockey Tournament

Congratulations to Ladies 2s Captain, Laverne Inns, who played in her first International Veterans Hockey Tournament in Tilburg in the Netherlands, for Alliance International Hockey Club

Hockey Club Tilburg held its 9th Annual International Super Veterans Tournament from the 25th - 27th April 2025 in the Netherlands. After submitting her application last year, Newry Olympic member Laverne Inns was selected to play for Alliance International O55s Ladies Hockey Club in the tournament.

Laverne had the opportunity to play with ladies who made the selection from Canada, England, Holland, Spain and of course Northern Ireland!

Laverne scores for Italy!

Over the Kings Day weekend in Holland, teams, male and female aged 55 to over 80 from Germany, France, Holland, Wales, Scotland, Italy, England, USA all played in a knockout tournament of 35 minutes on 7 pitches with 41 Umpires and Judges. 

Alliance played Germany, England, USA, France and Holland and Laverne was fortunate to get a goal assist with a crash ball into the circle against the Germans, scored against England as well as France and then was asked to play for the Italians.

Laverne was made an honorary member of the Italian team when she scored against the Dutch and was presented with a Team Italia Tilburg 2025 hockey hoody.

Laverne thanked the Newry Olympic Hockey Club Committee for their help and support in getting her to this level.

The story doesn't end here however! Having played so well, Laverne has also been selected by Alliance HC to play in the European Masters tournament in August 2025 in Nottingham.
