Girls U15s tie at top of section with Lisnagarvey

Newry Olympic Girls U15s have had a fantastic 2022-23. Remaining unbeaten for the season, they tied at the top of their section with a strong Lisnagarvey team, just losing out on first position on goal difference.

Playing well throughout the year, the girls won four of their five matches and drew a hard fought match in February with their table top rivals Garvey 1-1.

Top scorer during the season was Rachel Harshaw who netted six times, closely followed by Brianna Gregg with four. Shruti Suresh's had a great performance against Dromore when she grabbed a brilliant hat-trick.

Goalkeeper Abby Moffet also had a tremendous record, only being beaten twice and keeping three clean sheets.

Coaches Colin Henning and Jonny Gregg were both full of praise for the whole squad. "The girls were really enthusiastic throughout the season. They showed their commitment and dedication at training during the winter months, and in the evening matches, sometimes played in really wet and windy conditions. Some of the girls will now be moving up into the senior squad next season, which will be great for the club firsts. We were also able to give a few of our Under 13s some game time in the Development League which has helped bring them along. There's a lot of great hockey talent coming through the club."

Congratulations go to the whole squad and to coaches Colin and Jonny for a really successful year.
